Local Transcribe

Which languages can be transcribed? German and English. Choose the language with the globe button on the Notes screen. To redo a note in the other language, open it and use the menu at the top right.

The note says the speech model is missing. Connect to the internet once. iOS downloads Apple's speech model, and after that transcription works offline.

Which iOS version do I need? iOS 26 or later. The app turns speech into text with Apple's on-device speech engine, which is part of iOS 26.

What is free and what is paid? Your first three transcriptions are free, at any length. One purchase unlocks unlimited transcription. There is no subscription. Recording, playback and saving your audio are always free.

I bought the unlock and reinstalled the app. Open the purchase screen and tap Restore purchase. You need an internet connection for this one step.

How do I get a voice message into the app? In your messenger, share the voice message and choose Local Transcribe. Then open the app: the note appears with its text.

How do I start recording faster? Add the Local Transcribe widget to your Lock Screen or Home Screen, or assign the Start Recording shortcut to the Action button.

Where are my recordings? Only on your device. Use Save to Files on a note to keep a copy of the text and the audio anywhere you like. Deleting the app deletes its recordings.
